About The Council

 

- Founded in 1958, and received designation as a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation in 1966

- An affiliate of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) in New York City. NCADD was founded by Marty Mann in 1944, the first female member of Alcoholics Anonymous, with sustained sobriety.

- Originally an information and referral agency with one paid employee.

- Employs 100 staff and operates thirteen programs in Shreveport and Bossier City.

- Provides inpatient, residential, halfway house and outpatient services for Louisiana residents suffering from an addiction to alcohol or other drugs.

- Funded by Office for Addictive Disorders, United Way, city federal, and foundation grants, membership contributions, and organizational donations.
